In Nepal the 30th Annual Rafting Festival 2018 is to be organised in the Trishuli River from Bandare to Phisling on May 26th.

 

Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) is organising the event around the slogan of ‘Let Us Protect Our Rivers for Tourism and Environment’.

NARA held a press conference here thursday to give information about the 30th Annual Rafting Festival.

NARA general secretary Shiva Adhikari said the Festival is organised with the objective of promotion, extension and protection of the water adventure activity, rafting, in the country. He said the event is also aimed at promoting tourism through rafting.

Our objective is to contribute to the national economy and increase employment through the maximum utilisation of Nepal’s water resources for adventure activities as raftin,” Adhikari said.

According to him, the event also aims to spread the message on the need of preserving and protecting the rivers and streams for tourism development and nature conservation.

Out of around 6,000 big and small rivers in the country, rafting is allowed in 16 rivers including Karnali, Kali Gandaki, Trishuli, Bhotekosi, Sunkosi, Arun and Tamor rivers.

NARA treasurer Shishir Khanal said 400 Nepalis are expected to participate in the rafting festival. People from 15 years to 60 years can participate in the rafting event. The participation fee for both Nepali and foreign participants is Rs 2,000 per person. The estimated cost of the rafting festival is Rs 1.8 million.
